Jozi Lunch/Dinners

The Fat Zebra, Linden

The Fat Zebra Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato

This little spot has definitely had quite a lot of attention on it for some time now, so it was good to finally get a booking on a Friday evening.

Simple decor, cafe vibe, we grabbed a table outside under the covering which was well-heated and with the addition of blankets we didn’t even notice that we were technically sitting ‘outside’.

The menu is small and in the higher price-range (R100 and up). The starters are mostly salads which I was quite sad about. In winter I would prefer something warm and carb-based, hence we just stuck to main meals.

The house wine was inexpensive R35/glass) but very decent quality. Between us we decided on a Chicken pesto-parmesan pasta (R115) and a Parma ham and rocket pizza (R100). The staff are talkative and friendly and we were grateful that the food arrived promptly, all things that add to the success of an evening out.

The food was good quality and very tasty. The pizza base was thin and crispy and the Parma ham was slightly cooked which gave it a delicious flavour. The pasta was saucy and packed with flavour as well as a generous helping of pine nuts on top!

Our meals were fairly priced considering the quality but I think because the menu is small, it draws attention to the higher prices. Just giving people a few lower priced food options (gourmet sandwiches etc) would go a long way in my opinion.  Especially since it falls more into the cafe type category!

Overall an enjoyable evening.
